I cannot overemphasize the importance of reading Scripture for your understanding of God, others and yourself. Between Abraham in Genesis 12 and the authors and characters of the New Testament, the Bible covers a history of approximately 2,000 years. Over 40 authors contributed to the works over approximately 1500 years; it also includes various genres, experiences, prophecies, wisdom, and poetic expressions communicating both the pain and greatness of life and the majesty of God. Every time we read Scripture, we have the opportunity to learn more. It is a time to grow your understanding of the Bible and apply the truths wrapped in it to yourself, adapting and sharpening the lens through which you view life.
I have separated the reading plans and guides into three sections. The basic plan excludes more complex texts, such as those in the Major and most Minor Prophets. The basic reading plan/guide is designed for those who are relatively unfamiliar with the Bible but want to learn it. The medium plan includes more books of the Bible, but not all of them, while the advanced guide consists of all of the Old and New Testament books.
A mixture of weekly texts will be introduced as we progressively read through the Old and New Testaments with a weekly Psalm. I have included only five days of readings each week, as this leaves extra time to rest, reflect and contribute. I will also add an additional reflection day at least once a month. Note that the reading plans are only suggestive, so feel free to read ahead or make adjustments if and where you want to.
Also, a vital intention of this website is to contribute various important parts of a healthy spiritual life (e.g. Scripture, prayer, community, interaction, teaching, service and vision).
